The Regional Internet Registry system and Internet Number Resources This presentation will discuss the role of the Regional Internet Registries (RIRs) in distributing Internet number resources, such as IPv4and IPv6 addresses and Autonomous System Numbers (ASNs). The presenter will outline the methods that are used to organise the RIPE community and the role of RIPE in the Policy Development Process. Emphasis will be placed on how and why this is done in an open and bottom-up process. It will also look at the role the RIRs play in encouraging the deployment of IPv6 in their communities, and in engaging with stakeholders in government, who can lead the industry by example through their procurement practices. |
